LATEST: Case Study #10

Manufacturing company , Philippines market

Backstory: Client reached out to me with the intent of getting their SEO done (they did not even consider other people, just me). The MM informed me about the company's goals - what they have done so far with an SEO person before and what they're trying to achieve - which is to rank for specific keywords in the Philippines market. He showed examples and what the competitors are doing.

The Dilemma:

After getting all the initial data, I found out that they are already ranking on their target keywords.

I took a quick check on their website to see how are they doing in terms of onpage optimization, and they're spot on. I did this because I was honestly impress by how their website was done properly, and that the previous SEO person also did a good job on laying the right foundation.

Now my job is how to improve their rankings. It's a bit of a challenge for me because I haven't really worked in Philippines market before.

The problem with Philippines market is this – with approximately 80% of the entire population has cellphones and connected to internet, we still don't rely on technology when finding businesses locally... and the only way to increase views locally without using ads, is to have backlinks from Filipino websites.

Thus, I have to find a way how to get around this and strategize a hybrid marketing plan.

What has been done:

  • Did the keyword research to expand the opportunities
  • Did a manual audit for their existing links
  • Planned a link building strategy based on a month-by-month basis
  • Strategize an anchor text diversification to balance out excessive usage of target keywords
  • Reclaimed unlinked mentions and fix their local citations inconsistencies
  • Prospected, pitched, and acquired links through guest posts on local bloggers

Results:

Client's website is going leaps and bounds in terms of ranking. Even amidst the March 2024 core algorithm, the site NEVER swayed their rankings and STAYED at #1 position. Their traffic dipped down a little, although I suspect it's more of a Google dance rather than a penalty (see that little climb towards the end?).
